We are able to accept emergency walk-ins during our regular business hours:
- Monday-Friday: 8am-6pm
- Saturday: 8am -5pm
- Sunday: closed

McDowell Mountain Animal Hospital is here for you and your pet. During our normal business hours, we’re extremely flexible and can accommodate your pet if you have an urgent medical issue. It’s helpful, but not necessary, to give us a call before you bring your pet in to see us. If you do call ahead, your Scottsdale veterinarian will be prepared to jump on the case as soon as you arrive.
If your pet is experiencing any of the following symptoms, they may need emergency medical care:
- Apparent paralysis
- Dramatic change in body temperature
- Difficulty standing
- Excessive bleeding
- Loss of consciousness
- Pale gums
- Rapid breathing
- Weak or rapid pulse
- Rattlesnake bites
- Heat exhaustion
All of these symptoms are serious and should be attended to without delay. Bring your pet in to McDowell Mountain Animal Hospital right away if they are exhibiting one or more of the above symptoms.

We understand that emergencies can be scary for both you and your pet. Don’t be scared! We are here for you and your pet during this difficult time. If you can, remain calm to keep your pet calm too; this can prevent them from further injuring themselves and from becoming aggressive out of fear or pain.
For less urgent medical issues, you’re welcome to bring your pet in for a walk-in appointment. Every time you bring in your pet to McDowell Mountain Animal Hospital, you can rest assured that your pet will receive the personalized care and attention to detail that they deserve.
Day Hospitalization at McDowell Mountain Animal Hospital
As an AAHA accredited animal hospital, we are able to offer hospitalization services for pets who require supervised care. If your pet needs monitoring, oxygen therapy, administration of intravenous fluids, or another hospitalization service, McDowell Mountain Animal Hospital is ready to help during normal daytime hours. We’ll work with you and a 24-hour emergency provider if your pet needs prolonged monitoring.
